La Gigliola of Tuscany, Italy
Immersed in the enchanting Tuscan countryside, the estate La Gigliola dominates the rolling hills with its geometric vineyards, ancient oak wooded forests and its olive groves. For more than half a century the dedication of the Piazzini family has made this 15th century Borgo a jewel of rare beauty. With its four villas surrounded by manicured gardens, Gigliola’s heritage is steeped in Tuscan history and traditions.
Here, at the beginning of the 1900s, the noble Milani family took up residence in the beautiful Manor House, which now, restructured with taste and respect of the Renaissance style, hosts one of the most evocative Eco resorts in the whole of Tuscany.
The village of Gigliola also houses the ancient chapel dedicated to San Enrico, where in 1930, the young Lorenzo Milani was called by God to spread his word, creating a new educational model for the children of poor families.
Beyond the Villa Milani, the eco resort offers its guests;
Villa Gialla, with its beautiful view and private pool;
Villa Fienile, with its inviting garden and pool;
5 apartments with private garden and beautiful communal pool with view on the rolling hills of Gigliola.
The property also offers a tennis court, bowling alley and pingpong table. Do not miss the view of the cellars where fine wines rest before bottling. 70 hectares of expertly cultivated vineyards give Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Merlot, Syrah, Colorino, Trebbiano Toscano and Malvasia grapes, from which refined wines of great body and sincerity are produced. From the Frantoiano, Moraiolo, Maremmano and Pendolino olives, one of the most fragrant and full-bodied Italian oils is produced.
